The Constant Creative

What does it mean to be a constant creative?
For me, it means devoting my life to the pursuit of curiosity. I want to be an explorer of new ideas, adventures, and experiences. Adopting a mindset focused on discovery and the collection of new information is exactly what I need in this “new” season of life.

By nature, I have always been a creative. You can typically find me engaged in new hobbies and experiences, but within the last year, something stalled within me. I allowed my life circumstances to take control. I began to feel stagnant, lacking purpose, and—quite honestly—old.

Well, no more, my friend.

I am choosing to take back control of my mind and my actions. I want to move forward, to flourish in the new year, and to fully embrace this next chapter.

Recently, I read an article about the neuroplasticity of the brain and how to keep it young. One of the key takeaways was the importance of always learning new things. This can be as simple as driving a new route to work, trying new recipes, picking up an instrument, exploring a new hobby, or as complex as learning a new language.

One of the first things I am committing to is embracing my inner child and becoming a creative explorer once again. Here are four steps I am putting into action today:

  1. Embracing Uncertainty
Creative explorers are intrinsically motivated by curiosity and are comfortable with the obscurity of the road ahead. They trust the journey, even when the destination is unclear.

  2. Active Seeking
This involves constantly asking questions—no matter the size and engaging with diverse people in order to process as many ideas and perspectives as possible.

  3. Wandering and Observing
Exploration often includes literal or figurative wandering—taking time to notice small details others may overlook. It’s about staying present while moving with intention.

  4. Risk-Taking and Experimentation
Creative explorers take intelligent risks and are willing to fail in order to uncover hidden treasures and new perspectives. This means trying new ideas, being bold, and finding ways to disrupt the everyday.

Are you feeling disconnected from your life? Well, friend, let’s move forward together. What will your creative exploration be today?

Go explore by wandering. Walking in nature always sparks my creativity.
